After the Surgery

We provide written instructions including who to contact in case of post-operative complications. If you are worried about your animal after we have performed surgery, feel free to contact us. If you feel your pet is in immediate need of assisstance please contact your local veterinarian or veterinary emergency clinic.

Anesthesia

While there are always risks associated with anesthesia and surgery, animals presented to our clinic are no more likely to experience problems than animals altered at a full-service veterinary clinic. Animals that are older than 5 years or have health problems are at a greater risk for surgical and anesthetic complications.

Female Surgery

We will perform surgery on female animals that are in heat or pregnant without any additional charge. The risks of spaying these animals are higher and surgical aftercare may be more involved.

Male Surgery

We are able to neuter male animals that have only one or no testicles descended if they are over six months of age. Because this surgery is more involved the fee is the same as a female animal and for scheduling purposes must be considered a female appointment. If an animal scheduled for a male appointment arrives for surgery and does not have two testicles descended the patient may have to be rescheduled as a female appointment at a later date.

Pediatric Surgery

Though many people are uncomfortable with the idea of pediatric surgeries, there is ample scientific evidence that spay/neuter procedures are safe on young animals. We will alter animals as young as 7 weeks old.
