Transport Program

The Pet Overpopulation Problem

Each year, six to eight million pets enter shelters and three to four million of those are euthanized simply because they do not have a home. Incredibly, some regions of the country still have euthanasia rates as high as 85 percent.

Our Solution

We save puppies from high kill shelters (80% or more kill rate). We quarantine our puppies for 2-3 weeks and then transport them to a foster home organization either in NY or NJ.

The puppies are appropriately vaccinated, dewormed and otherwise cared for during their stay with us. Before they leave, all adults and puppies are spay/neutered, appropriately vaccinated & dewormed prior to transport.

We send 15-18 puppies on our once a month transports. Some adults get to find new homes as well. They either come from high kill shelters or the rural, overcrowded shelter we work with in Washington GA.

All adults are spay/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed & are either heartworm negative or have been treated for heartworms.

Transport Costs

A transport generally costs $1200-1500 per run and that adds up quickly. With fuel costs rising, this is becoming harder and harder for us to do. With your donation, you will not only be helping one puppy but up to 18 as 18 dogs or puppies get to make the trip!

In 2008 our program has enabled 250 dogs and puppies to find loving families in the northeast.
